Bertus van Schalkwyk is an innovative engineer, project manager and businessman with a solid track record, living in Somerset West (South Africa) since 1993 where he is active and well known in the community.

In the early years of his career he worked as an electronics design engineer in the high-tech military, aviation and aerospace industry, designing state-of-the-art electronic equipment that were integrated into systems that had to withstand the harshest of environments, including space.

Later he became a Project Manager in the Defence Industry, responsible for contractual and financial matters related to several multi-million Rand projects while managing and motivating in-house teams as well as external contractors to deliver project milestones on time and within budget.

His Project Management experience enabled Bertus to do a smooth transition into other sectors of business and industry. In 2011 he accepted the position as Managing Director of a start-up company, Organic Water Solutions (Pty) Ltd and in 2015 as MD of Sigmacor Construction. He then redirected his energy to his own Project Management company, first focusing on construction with AmavaProjects and then added electronic & mechanical engineering through AmavaTech.
